Gerry Davis is a retired computer industry lawyer who has
been a photographer since age 14 when he started by documenting his
family?s travels to the Far East shortly after WWII. He worked on
high school and college publications as a writer, editor and
photographer, and did public relations photography and darkroom work
while in college and law school.
As his family grew up he turned again to
travel photos, which are his primary interest, along with landscapes
and flora. Because of his interest in wine and the wine country he
has collected many slides of the French wine country and now digital
photos of Napa and Monterey Counties in California, where he has his
homes.
 More
recently,
after retirement from his law practice, he turned to serious digital
work with the newest Canon DSLR equipment. He currently works with a
Canon 1Ds and a D60 and an assortment of Canon lenses, which has
meant that he spends lots of time with his computer and PhotoShop7.
Most pictures are shot as Canon RAW files, which allows considerable
leeway in processing and gives the photographer far more control
over his own work. This is important since he personally
processes and produces all the prints he delivers. His objective is
to provide enjoyable photographs that are relatively inexpensive,
yet technically superior while very limited in
availability.
 This web site
illustrates just a few of the varied subjects he has been
working on lately. He hopes you enjoy them, and if they are of
interest to you, that you will contact him for prices and
information on print sizes. He works from his home study where he
prints all his work on an Epson 2200 Ultrachrome printer that
produces long-lived prints which often look like watercolors when
properly processed. While these prints can be produced in very large
sizes, most are printed as 8 x 10 or 12 x 16 photos in order to keep
the costs reasonable.
